FIGHTING THE COXSACKIE VIRUS!
Owen has come down the with nasty coxsackie virus! We noticed a rash on him Sunday and by Monday it was looking worse and he wasn't eating or drinking all signs that Owen doesn't feel good. Bob took him to the doctor yesterday and she confirmed that he indeed has the virus and there really isn't much we can do for it but wait it out. She did give us a cream for the rash but other then that there is no anitbotic to take for it. Today he has soars on his mouth and a rash on his hands and feet and groin area.
I just hung up the phone with his cleft palate surgeon to be sure there isn't something we should be doing extra for him and he confirmed what our pediatrician stated and that was plenty of fluids, Tylneol ever four hours and rest, hopefully in three to five days he will be feeling better.
Last night was a LOOOOONG night and brought me right back to the days following Owen's surgery, the screaming all night, the moaning and the down right miserable. I had to just give him liquids through a syringe because swallowing is too painful for the little guy. It's very sad.
So, we've rearranged our schedules to make sure one of us in home with Owen this week yesterday was Bob today is me tommorrow it's Bob again and then Thursday and Friday me. I am really hoping by Friday he will be showing huge improvements.
We had a BBQ over the weekend and it was great, very hot but everyone had a great time. Once this crisis passes our house I will be sure to post pictures.
Send good wishes our way, we really need them.
