So....

I am feeling very disconnected from my blog and to all my blogger friends. There really is not much to talk about right now. The usual stuff is going on, work, work, work.

I did hear a "rumor" that referrals should be arriving soon! Hopefully in the next couple of days! If the rumor of referrals arriving for families logged in up to October 14th that would mean group #74 from our agency will be included in this batch! That would make 4 groups in front of us with our agency! Although, that means nothing to CCAA we still have a LONG wait ahead of us!!! But even turtle steps are better then no steps.

I will definitely post when BABIES arrive!

Not much going on...

I really don't have a whole lot to write about, but was feeling the need to be connected to my blog so here I am.

Bob and I didn't go to the furniture store over the weekend as planned. He was able to work overtime on Saturday and took advantage of that. I didn't want to go without him. Seemed to be something we both should do together. My parents are visiting February 3rd. for their anniversary dinner, my dad doesn't know it yet but I have a few projects for him. I would like to put crown modeling around the babies room ceiling. I think that will finish off the "cottage" look I am going for. I have curtains that match the border we put up but decided I am going to attempt to make them myself. I found great fabric and want to use it. (well, actually I am going to ask my neighbor to help me, although he has no idea)

I think I posted here before that my mom is insisting on having a baby shower for me before the baby comes home. She planned on doing it in April, but I enlisted my sister to explain to her that I really wanted to wait until we were out of the review room and moved to the matching room. I know we have nothing to worry about, but you just never know and why jinx it, right?? So, my sister did my dirty work told my mom we wanted to wait and believe it or not, she took it very well. I know she means well and her and my dad are very excited about the arrival of Emma so I appreciated her understanding on the matter. Although, I had to commit to another date. So, I think we are going for October 6th! Do you think July will be out of the review room by then....it better be or I think I will just bust! There is only so much one girl can handle. So, you would think that it would be me who was disappointed that we weren't having a shower, right?? After all the shower really is for the mom to be! NOPE, it was my very sensitve husband, Bob. When I told him that my sister was going to talk to mom about changing the date he said "You mean we aren't having our shower in April"?? I felt sad for him! I am so caught up in my own emotions that I forgot that this is hard for him too! So we had the heart to heart talk about the whole thing, both felt sorry for ourselves and moved on! What else can you do.

So, my new bestest friend Kim (journeytoemmagrace) and I have talked a lot about the "when" question. Our projections are a referral toward the end of the year, travel January/February 2008! She is LID 7/4/06 and we are LID 7/6/06 so we are REALLY REALLY hoping we get our referral at the same time and are in China together! Although we are trying to plan a trip to meet way before that. Of course not very easy task since she lives in Michigan and we live in NYC. But somehow we will make it work.

O.k. for someone that didn't have a lot to say, I've taken up a lot of space!! LOL

TAGGED BY GINA (waitingforbabymia)

These are the instructions:

1) Find the nearest book (please try to keep it PG rated)
2) Open to page 123
3) Type lines 6-8 of said book
4) Tag three others

Here we go..........

Of course I am reading about adoption, so my book is The Lost Daughters of China
Page 123, line 6 - 8 reads...
"trucking around with brand-new babies was a Zen-like challenge. I was living in the present moment as never before, thanks to the steepness of the learning curve.Up and down the hotel elevators we rode, crowding with visiting businessmen, dropping cookie crumbs while they gave us odd looks and puffed on their cigarettes.

I'm tagging Kim, and Cora! Sorry only have two again because everyone else is tagged already!

FOUND THE CRIB

Well, Bob and I happen to stop in a crib outlet over the weekend! o.k., maybe it didn't just "happen", I planned it. Anywho, we found the crib we want! I've posted the crib we thought we wanted in "Emma's Nursery" section but when we walked into the store there it was! We had originally planned on light wood but my dad built us an Armoire and dresser/changing table for Emma's nursery and he painted it to look like distressed wood and Bob and I weren't sure our light wood crib would look good in there. Now our crib is called the "cottage collection" and is a cottage white color and is beautiful! I can see Emma sleeping peacefully in it already!

The salesman was very nice and when we explained that we are adopting our baby from China and that we weren't sure when we would need the crib he offered to hold it for us up to one year. I certainly hope I will need the crib within the next year!! The thought of that makes me cry!

Well, Bob and I had a hard to commenting to the crib, I am not sure why we left to "think about it" I am not sure what there is to think about, we are having a baby and we need a crib. SO, we are going back on Saturday to leave a 10% deposit and take our time to pay it off since he is willing to hold it for us and I can't bare to look at a crib in her room without her in it. It's bad enough it is painted and the furniture my dad made is in there.

What a funny coincidence that my sister would call me yesterday and tell me that she found the perfect bedding for Emma in a catalog that matches her room. I hadn't told her that we found a crib that we both loved, so it was funny that she would have found the perfect bedding the same weekend, also funny was that the picture had a personalized item in it and the name on it was Emma. What are the chances of that??

I will post a picture as soon as I can find one online. And Thanks to Bob's parents, Irene and Bob who are purchasing the babies crib for us!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Not too much going on, but it's Friday so I thought I would make a post! Since over the weekend I never get a chance to go online!

It's finally starting to feel like winter in New York City! I must admit I like the colder weather! We may even see a little snow today!

We hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend!

CUTE BABY...

Isn't she just too cute??? This is Bob with our friend Donna's daughter, Emily. Bob has known Donna for a very long time, I would say close to 30 years maybe more!

We were at a a mutual friend sons birthday party and all the kids had chef hats and aprons and frosted cupcakes...all the kiddies had a great time, even Emily who was too young to decorate her cupcake.
Thanks Donna for sharing your daughter with us for the day! We had a great time with her!

SO MUCH FOR CNN....

Well, I really don't know what to say about the program! I've come to the conculsion that they just don't get it! They just don't understand what adoption is about and that it is a very personal choice as to where you adopt from and why International Adoption is a choice for many of us!

I am walking away from this with the knowledge that Mr. Martin is speaking about a subject that he has no knowledge of and anyone watching that matters knows that he made himself look foolish and has no education in the field of adoption.

CNN TONIGHT

I am sure some of my blogger friends heard about the Paula Zahn report on CNN Friday night. If you did not here is a BRIEF update.....Apparently she did a report about the new regulations in China and had some "expert panelist" on the show. It did not portray China adoptions in a favorable light and MANY families who have already adopted, in the process of adopting or thinking about adopting from China were not happy. Me being one of them. Many of us sent emails to CNN CEO, Paula Zahn, the Sponsors of the report, etc. Apparently we've been heard....

Tonight on CNN at 8:00 p.m. this topic will be re-visited with a new panel of experts who supposedly know about International Adoptions....let's hope so!

Bob and I will certainly be watching and hoping that this time they get it right!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME....

So today is our 16th wedding Anniversary! I can not believe that it has been that long....time sure does fly when you are having fun.

Could it be that this will be the last anniversary that we will spend without Emma?? Will we need a babysitter next year to go out for dinner?? That will be a welcome change to our lives!

If anything could be said about us it would be that we aren't together because of the "kids" but because we still love eachother, that we have more good days then bad and that after knowing him for over 17 years he is still my best friend.

Tomorrow is another anniversary for Bob and I.....we will be LID 6 months! Now, that is cause to celebrate!!!

CCAA HAS UPDATED THEIR SITE......

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

BABIES!

Referrals are starting to arrive!! It appears that CCAA has referred babies to families who were logged in upto and including September 27, 2005! That would mean 19 days of referrals have been done! That would be a bit more then in the past! Let's hope that is a good sign and things are speeding up if even just a little bit.

We don't know for sure if CCAA will update their website or if that is something they are no longer doing. It was discussed that at the BIG meeting CCAA had said they would no longer be updating the site, they just didn't say when that would take effect.

I can't wait to see referral pictures...this is the best part of the month!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

2006 is over and a new year has begun! Could 2007 finally be the year that Bob and I become parents? My New Years resolution is to be more patient during this journey and treat each day as one day closer to our baby!

Bob and I will be celebrating Chinese New Years this year and hope to start traditions that we can share with Emma once she is safely home and in our arms!!!

We wish all our friends and family and very HAPPY NEW YEAR that brings HEALTH, HAPPINESS AND LOVE!
